Party Poop: Oh, the things I have seen. The things I have heard. The things I wish had happened with Julian McMahon in the back room of the Fox party. (Oops, did I say that out loud?)
This week, tuberinos, it was (again) all about the Television Critics Association's Press Tour, which, as I'm sure you know, is a chance for reporter types to get a little face time with TV stars and producers.
So, behold the highlights, which sadly do not include the aforementioned backroom romp but rather a front-room diss (we'll get to that).
.......
Nip/Tuck Diss: That Julian McMahon is one smooth love doctor. When I eyeballed him at the Fox party talking to costar John Hensley (Matt) and executive producer Ryan Murphy, as a Nip/Tuck fanatic, I (naturally) pounced.
After cordial reintroductions, I asked the Nip/Tuck trio if they were up for answering a few questions. "Sure," Julian replied, as the other two nodded. But as Ryan started to answer the first one, Julian suavely slid past me with one hand on my back, saying, "I'll leave you two alone," effectively excusing himself and John Hensley from the conversation. Hmph! It seems Julian doesn't easily forget certain burpalicious encounters. (Remember my Emmy faux pas? Ay caramba!)
But that's all carbonated water under the bridge, my friends, because it's Ryan who has the scoopy goods anyway. "There are two new characters," he dished to me. "We are going to meet Joely Richardson's mother, who's a complete bitch and a glamorous sort of woman who does not get along with her daughter. And then, when Julia hires a life coach, who is a 40-year-old contemporary, she ends up having an affair with Matt, who is 16. So, Julia's going to be freaked out by that."
Ryan also revealed that many faves from yesterseason (like Gina, Kimber and Escobar) are back when the show returns in June. And, finally, we learn the true identity of Matt's father in episode five. "It's not what anyone expects," Ryan hints. "It's going to be twisty, turny."
We expect nothing less. In the meantime, I'm rooting hard core for Nip/Tuck and Joely Richardson to win their categories at the Globes Sunday night. Woo. Woo.
