è tratta dall'omoima serie manga di rei hiroe ancora in corso. la serie animata è composta da due serie, la seconda chiamata second barrage.
la trama è quella di un gruppo di mercenari che svolgono delle missioni di qualunque genere, anche infrangendo la legge e prendendo delle missioni dalla mafia russa.
il protagonista decide di mollare il suo passato e di unirsi a questo gruppo perchè stanco della sua vita piatta e del fatto di essere stato usato come pedina dalla sua ditta per dei loschi traffici.
si può considerare un anime un po violento, am comunque merita molto perchè è abbastanza equilibrato.
l'unica pecca magari è la doppiatrice di revy che nella versione originale si capisce che è una persona senz scrupoli e sentimenti, invece nella versione italiana sembra più un personaggio buffo

devo dire che sono state poche le colonne sonore che mi hanno veramente emozionato, e pensavo che dopo hack e aquarion non ce ne sarebbero state altre. invece mi sono dovuto ricredere perchè l'opening theme di black lagoon è davvero bella (devo invece dire che l'ending theme è veramente orrenda).
